Eight business owners were charged in the crackdown, the City of Wildwood Police Department said in a news release on Wednesday, Aug. 14. Wildwood officers and special agents for the state Department of Treasury responded to several boardwalk businesses that sold tobacco and vaping products on Wednesday, Aug. 13.

Investigators said the business owners had to show valid licenses to sell tobacco products. One business at 3210 Boardwalk was briefly shut down for not providing the licenses.

The special agents seized all tobacco and vapor products at the stores. Officials with the state attorney general's office also issued violation notices for selling flavored vape products after an earlier investigation in June.

The following people were charged with sales of flavored vapor products where prohibited:

  • Ali Ezzeldin, 31 years old
  • Erez Ascandrani, 44 years old
  • Udi Hayut, 55 years old
  • Shehab Taher, 27 years old
  • Geroge Geris, 30 years old
  • Ahmed Soliman, 39 years old
  • Laurent Perez, 47 years old
  • Sami Tavrizi, 47 years old

The business owners were issued summons complaints for the disorderly persons offenses.
